Open communication is one of the keys to a happy family. Sometimes difficult conversations need to take place between family members in order to work through difficult issues. Approached the wrong way, difficult conversations can harm family relationships. But approached with loving motives, difficult conversations can strengthen your family. The Holy Spirit stands ready to help you purify your motives for engaging in conversations with your family, so that the tone, words, and body language of each conversation will reflect God’s love. Relying on the Spirit starts when you ask God to show you where He is at work in the lives of the people with whom you need to have difficult conversations. Every conversation you have with your family can reflect the greater conversation you enjoy with God as a Christian — one of acceptance, love, and grace, no matter what.
